Neon Neon (Gruff Rhys and Boom Bip) present ‘Praxis Makes Perfect’ – a conceptual power pop tour de force inspired by the colourful life of maverick Italian publisher Giagiacomo Feltrinelli.

Born in to one of Italy’s wealthiest families, Feltrinelli was a left-wing political activist and published some of the greatest literary works of the 20th century, including ‘The Leopard’ and ‘Doctor Zhivago’. He died in highly suspicious circumstances in 1972.

‘Praxis Makes Perfect’ features Sabrina Salerno, Asia Argento, Cate Le Bon, Josh Klinghoffer and follows Neon Neon’s 2008, Mercury-shortlisted debut ‘Stainless Style’; a concept album based on the life of colourful motoring mogul John DeLorean.

Gruff Rhys and Boom Bip have also teamed up with playwright Tim Price, director Wils Wilson and National Theatre Wales to create unique Neon Neon live performances.

This Unfortunate Thing Between Us is currently on show as the new Lightbox Commission and in two caravans on the Chapter forecourt. First performed in 2011 and broadcast live on German digital television, TUTBU TV is an alternative home shopping channel selling real life experiences in place of mass-produced commodities. It includes pitches, demonstrations and live phone-ins to provide a tantalising glimpse into what could be the future of consumer television.

TUTBU – This Unfortunate Thing Between Us.

2 episodes of Phil Collins’ Utopian TV shopping channel TUTBU, recorded last year in Berlin in front of a live studio audience, will be transmitted into televisions placed in 2 special caravans in front of the Chapter arts centre, Cardiff, from today until next January as part of the Artes Mundi exhibition.

It features a continuous 60 minute soundtrack performed by Gruff Rhys and Y Niwl.
