Today marks the first day of Gruff Rhys’ American Interior tour of the American interior (and beyond).
This project will evolve and shape shift over the next few months, and all the components will be tied together by the unifying chord of the above title.
It’s initially going to be an investigative concert tour that follows the route that John Evans took through north America between 1792 and 1799, in search of a mythical Welsh speaking tribe of Native Americans. Then it may well go off on one.
Starting tonight with a sold out show at the Beinecke library, Yale – the tour will proceed to the following venues through August.
Drop in, listen to some old and new songs, get to know a bit about the eventful life of John Evans, how he accidentally changed American history and how you can help out in creating a vivid picture of his largely forgotten story.
