They are recordings made by and taken from the sound desk of supremo sound engineer Steve Beatty (who also documented the classic R L Burnside record, Burnside on Burnside).
It’s the PA mix from that night so obviously amplified guitars etc are low in the mix as you could hear them blasting from stage. Whilst for example, Gruff’s off key vocals and shitty sounding acoustic Velcro-horned TM guitar are yay high in the mix.
Steve recorded a number of shows on the tour so hopefully we’ll pass you on more stuff in the coming months.
Pop Trivia/Disclaimer: Gruff & Y Niwl only slept for 2 hours the night before and arrived straight in the venue, The Brighton Music Hall from taping the Jimmy Kimell show in Los Angeles the previous night. Their friend Lewie drove all night, like the wind. Breaking 5 land speed records in the process.
